Osteopathy in Whistler and Squamish
Meet your practitioner
Yukiko (Yuki) Kawada - Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, M.OMSc.
Hi, I’m Yuki. I’m an osteopathic manual practitioner (OMP). I was born and raised in the busy city of Nagoya, Japan, but I moved to Canada in search of a peaceful, nature-close lifestyle. My passion for snowboarding and the mountains led me to settle in Whistler, BC.
Living an active lifestyle in Whistler exposed me to manual therapy through physical conditioning and injuries. I was particularly impressed by the skilled treatments I received, especially osteopathic care, which was highly effective and perfectly suited to my needs. This experience inspired me to pursue osteopathy and led me to complete the four-year full-time Classical Osteopathic program at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy. I earned my Diploma of Master in Practice of Osteopathic Manipulating Science (M.OMSc) and am a member in good standing of Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN).
My treatment approach involves using gentle, non-invasive techniques to provide a pain-free and calming experience. I realign the body’s structures and stimulate its self-healing properties.
I’m excited about the opportunity to use my osteopathic skills to help people maintain or restore their health, allowing them to continue enjoying their lifestyles. I’ve been fortunate to receive excellent care from skilled manual practitioners in the past few years, and I feel it’s my turn to give back and help others.
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a manual therapy with a holistic approach. The principle of osteopathy considers the body as a dynamic unit of function and emphasizes the interrelationship between the structure and function of the body. Osteopathy believes that the body has inherent self-healing, self-regulating, and self-protective mechanisms.
An osteopathic manual practitioner promotes the body’s natural healing ability through gentle, non-invasive manual therapy. The goal is to restore proper body mechanics, nerve impulses, and circulation of bodily fluids. This is achieved by realigning body structures, improving joint mobility, and releasing restrictions in the fascia, muscles, and ligaments. This support allows the body to regain its proper mechanics, enabling nerve impulses and fluid circulation to flow freely and reducing muscle and joint pain.
Osteopathy seeks health rather than disease. Practitioners focus on identifying and treating the root cause of problems, ultimately promoting overall well-being.
The benefits:
reduce muscle and joint pain in both acute and chronic conditions
restore proper body mobility to joints and tissues, producing well-balanced posture
calm down the nervous system enhancing the relationship between mind and body
improve circulation and fluid exchange within the body promoting the body’s self-healing, self-regulating capacities.
